Jingle, Jingle. I can tell that winter is near with that jingle, jingle that I hear! Nope, not Santa's sleigh bells. My fingers always shrink in the winter so my wedding rings always turn to the bottom and clink whenever I type. Okay, I can't say always because check out the fingers sausages in the background of this photo from the very first day of Ryan's life that I found this week. The jingling rings seem to be missing for some reason...

Boys watching football at lunch. We continue our obsession by watching the ND-USC game over and over.
This was what I came back to when I left the boys eating lunch for a bit. I'm not one who likes to have meals around the TV (23 going on {insert stereotypical strict mom age}), but the fan in me let it slide and I promptly went over and watched it, too.

Confession from a priest's perspective. One of the best things that I read this week is this piece written by Fr. Mike Schmitz over at Lifeteen that Tess shared. Beautiful and eye-opening! I recommend that everyone read it, especially since the sacrament of Confession can be so misunderstood by both Catholics and non-Catholics.

Scrunchy nose smile sighting and goose eggs. Baby Boy likes to change his faces up. Lately, his go-to expression has been the aardvark face, but back in September, his scrunchy nose smile ruled my heart. Sadly, it disappeared for a bit, but Ryan pulled it out of his reserve yesterday! Ryan, I prefer your scrunchy to the ones I used to wear in my ponytails.
You can also see the goose egg that Mother Goose the Window laid (smacked) on his forehead. Ryan now walks more than he crawls, but sometimes (a lot of times) he forgets key steps to the whole walking thing...like letting your foot meet the ground so you don't topple over to whack the window with your head. Maybe it was his little potbelly that through him off balance? Or maybe he just wanted to see how big of an egg Mother Goose the Window would give him?

Mama or Momma. Do you use Mama or Momma? I use Mama, but I know that a few of my friends spell it Momma. This mama (momma??) is genuinely curious so please share!

Please send in your advent wreaths! For Advent, I will be featuring Advent wreaths from my readers on the blog. If you would like to submit yours, please send a photo (or photos!) and a little bit about your family's Advent traditions to cedarsandtinyflowers {at} gmail.com. I hope to post one every day starting on December 2 (the first Sunday of Advent) in addition to my regular posts. Can't wait to read about your wreaths!
how do you get your apples in french fry slices????
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing! What a great idea! Oh,and go Irish!
DeleteIt is super easy! Just quarter the apple and cut the core out. Then I just lay the apple flat on one side and cut straight down so the slices are even. Then just cut those slices into strips.
DeleteDoes that make sense? haha
#4 Was a great article and I shared it several times, brought tears to my eyes!
ReplyDelete#7 sounds like fun, we are getting our decorations out and up this weekend and our Advent wreath is my favorite part!! I just need to go get some fresh candles!!!!
I cried, too. I cry easily :) And please submit your wreath! I need to get fresh candles, too...
DeleteI can't wait to get our Advent wreath out! I'm excited to read about the wreaths and traditions that go along with them! I've always called my Mom "Mama" - that is the spelling I use for her number in my phone. =)
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see yours! Another mama user!
DeleteMy rings do the same thing! I would love to submit my Advent wreath--it's my second married Christmas, but only my first with us having a decent amount of money, so I'm so excited to decorate and make a wreath and ornaments this weekend. So looking forward to starting new traditions =)
ReplyDeletePlease do send me your wreath! This is only my second married Christmas as well, and I know how you feel...I think next year will be the first year that I can go all out. I'm definitely going to hit up the stores after Christmas when everything is 70% off!
Delete#3 Oh my goodness, he is so cute!! God bless, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeletePlease tell that sweet boy to stop growing so fast! #5 (especially the second photo) is my favorite, but you know how much i love his FACES. Also, I'm a "mama" speller. WAVELENGTH :)
ReplyDeleteWavelength!! :)
DeleteLast night he made THE FACE!
And tell me about it, he is 11 months mañana...
I used to spell it "mama" but Brendan's whole family spells it "momma" so I think I might change to "momma"
ReplyDeleteMomma C sounds nice :)
DeleteWhat an adorable baby! I love the apple fries, too. We've always used the words "mommy" and "daddy". I still call my 74-year-old mother "mommy" Annette
ReplyDeleteDid you know Father Mike Schmitz is a close friend to our family? He lives in Duluth!
