The Best Handheld Vacuum - Cheerio, Cheerios!

I always love and appreciate how honest and blunt Grace is about big, bad sponsored posts. So! I'm going to follow in her great example, and say it up front: BLACK+DECKER kindly sponsored this post. However, these opinions are my own, and there will be an ample amount of rambling sentences and cringe-worthy puns all written while sitting on my freshly clean stairs that normally plague me with their dust bunny mess. Thanks for learning more about this great product if you choose to do so! We really do appreciate it.
-----------
Ryan is a tornado, but you know who really is a tornado? ME. There are still some dishes next to the sink from Easter, that stack of clothes I mentioned when I showed you how much of a mom ordinaire I am is still there in the living room, and I just unpacked our suitcase two days ago from our trip to Texas two weekends ago. Housekeeping is not my strong suit, but I'm hoping my homemaking isn't too bad.

The funny thing is that I manage a weekend rental property for my father-in-law. Managing = marketing, correspondence and, ironically, a whole lot of cleaning. I take pride in how clean I get the place. Now if only I could do that when the cleaning is for me. I normally run into two cleaning-blocks most of the time.  First, I build a mountain out of a dirty-bowl-hill or the like and think it will take much longer than it really will, thus putting it off and letting it terribly annoy me until I have a big chunk of time. Second, I get distracted by my Cheerio-spiller or his little brother or some appliance beeping or a text or call or email or daydream. Distraction, you are my rarely clean house's enemy.

Since BLACK+DECKER sent the Pilot Vac, it has helped me make those cleaning-blocks step aside. I know that it does a good job quickly so it won't take a long to suck up all that flour that was flung around making cinnamon rolls or the remnants of Ryan's favorite bee-bowl from Pot-le. (You would think since it is his favorite food, more of it would get into his mouth ...). Another added bonus? Its small size makes it a great size for my tornado of a toddler. Teaching responsibility young (I hope) and distracting the mess-maker.

This cordless vac made it almost effortless when I did a quick touch up of before our Easter guests arrived, and it has helped me maintain a cleaner house. The nozzle pivots easily to clean up high, down low and even in tight spaces when I don't want to move furniture (which is always). Chris is already happy that I no longer declare that I'm going to clean the Portillo's on the floor of the car and then leave it for weeks. Pivot Vac, you are adding even more spark to the relationship

It has been the best handheld vacuum for everyday messes, and I really am so excited to use it when cleaning for rental weekends. Stairs are no fun to deep-clean with a corded vacuum. Have you ever had a vacuum come apart when you pulled it a little too strong while attempting to untangle the extension cord? My cleaning mojo bit the dust with that one.

So! Would you like a little housekeeping help in the form of a BLACK+DECKER Pivot Vac valued at $79.99? Just click here, and then come back and tell me in a comment how the Pivot Vac would help you clean.

This is a Rafflecopter giveaway - GOOD LUCK!

  1. This sounds like it would be the perfect fix to cleaning the (near constant amount of) sand in our car. Rough Hawaii life, I know.

  2. There are cheerios all over my house... this would help!

    ReplyDelete
  3. We have our fair share of Cheerios on the floor around here, but usually the dog eats them... Unfortunately, she also chews up her dog toys into little bits and leaves them all over for the toddler to find and snack on. So a handheld vacuum would definitely be hand for that. Also, congrats on venturing into the world of sponsored posts!

  4. Growing up I hated the chore of vacuuming the {carpeted} stairs...but now that I have stairs in our house, sans carpet, the constant dust bunnies on them drive me crazy! ...and I have a feeling Evie will be spilling cheerios before I know it!

  5. I've been wanting to get a cordless hand held vac for a year... Four kids make quite the mess! I would probably keep it in the car!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I have the same problem with the stairs! My little (fat) black cat sheds all over it and its so hard to clean! This would be heavenly.

  7. ahh i need a handheld vaccum ! i don't even own a vacuum and it's made life very difficult. i keep meaning to set aside $ in The Budget for it but other things always pop up.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Two words: STEEP STAIRS! Maybe then I wouldn't break my neck trying to wrestle the vacuum over them.

  9. We had a cordless vacuum last year... It didn't do what I wanted it to do and it was sooooo heavy. I actually remember telling my husband that if it can't pick up Cheerios (which, let's face it, is the least of my problems when RICE is a staple in this house) then it's useless to me... And that stinking handheld vacuum could not pick up Cheerios, or rice, or anything Cheerio sized. What's the point of a handheld that can't pick up that stuff!? Seriously.

It'll help me keep my house clean too... I've got a 5-year-old, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old (who has just discovered his affinity for Cheerios), so my house is in a constant state of disarray and my floors are always messy with crumbs.

Also, I'm in Canada... So it's entirely possible that I'm ineligible for this... Am I?

    1. Hi Cynthia! I agree. A handheld needs to pick up Cheerios.

And it is open to the US and Canada! Enter away :)

  10. Um I need this in my car, because my 18 month old doesn't understand the concept of food staying in her mouth. GIMME!

  11. This would be perfect for my house! I have a almost 2yo and three dogs. This would be perfect for those times the 2yo likes to feed to the three dogs!

  12. I think it would help me clean by... existing. Someone used our dust buster to clean up what I believe was damp plaster and it is in rough shape. I could definitely use a cheerio-pick-upper.

  13. I dropped a favorite earring under the vanity in our bathroom this morning, and when I got down there to evaluate the situation, I almost left it forever. Along with the socks that are apparently migrating there (seriously, why did they leave space down there? No good can come of that!). A more mobile vacuum would be AWESOME.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Our dust buster is on it last leg and so another cordless vac with be WONDERFUL!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. We actually have one of these where I work (except it's an older model), and it really is great for the stairs, especially when it's getting later into the evening and I don't feel like getting out the other vacuum. I'm moving soon and would love to have a little vacuum to take with me!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have two dogs, a husband, a baby, and a two story home. Need I elaborate? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. My husband and I just got a dog... so of course our house is constantly covered in her hair. My husband normally does the vacuuming (I picked a winner), but this would be a great thing to use for a quick touch-up right before people show up!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Cheerios are a necessity in my house, but they are my nemesis!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I use my older model 15V Black and Decker almost every day! It's great with all the crumbs my kids seem to make at every meal! Would love to get my hands on this new model!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd clean up the mess my soon-to-be grubby hubby makes while eating ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. This would help me in all the ways. Unless I forgot to charge it....

    ReplyDelete
  22. This would be perfect for our stairs! And a quick furniture seat sweep to remove the dog hair! And the car!! Oh the snack messes it could clean!

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is so lazy, but it's the truth - this beauty would help me clean areas that would require me to move furniture to otherwise vacuum with our regular giant. I know, so lazy, but that's why I want is so bad ;)

Ryan is so cute using it, BTW! Isn't it funny how our wants change from high school to adulthood? Never would I ever think that my desire for a handheld vacuum would be this sincerely great!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes! I've been thinking I need something like this. Two things that this would help with cleaning: 1) rug under the kitchen sink that is a magnet for crumbs, 2) the full flight of stairs to the main part of the house that are immediately inside the door to the garage. They are horrible because I hate dragging the full vacuum down them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Perfect for cleaning up after a large child, such as my husband. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. This would be handy for the mud and dirt that the kiddos are constantly tracking in since we moved back to the "farm." :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Will really help keep my car clean

    ReplyDelete
  28. We have two little ones who are messy eaters. This would be great for picking up their crumbs!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Looks perfect to clean along the baseboards. Seems like that's where dust gathers and its always a pain in the butt to get it all swept up

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have a little one who I've affectionately deemed the baby tornado so I could use this to clean up after her all day long. I'd love to use it in my car, too!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Perfect for vacuuming the rugs instead of pulling out the big vacuum cleaner!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I would loveeee one of these. I would use it every day. In the CAR. Under the table... Oh man.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This would be a game changer for cleaning up after snack time! Now that we have 2 under 2, I have a feeling my life is about to get a whole lot more messy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love handheld vacuums! Didn't get the one we registered for. I think it'll def make cleaning up little messes easier once our little boo comes in 6ish weeks! My husband is the neat freak in our family. He will be especially thrilled. :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would totally make using this to clean around our dinner table one of the kid's chores every night!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love how lightweight it is...I could definitely copy your idea and have my toddler use it too, which would kill two birds with one stone--keeping him busy AND cleaning my constantly-crumby floors!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've been dreaming of one of these since we were married! Where wouldn't I use it is the real question???? The whole house could benefit!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I would let my little man help to clean up!

    ReplyDelete
  39. My 16 month old would love this!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Looks like it would be great for under the high chair clean ups!

    ReplyDelete
  41. It would help by being able to go under the high chair easily.

    ReplyDelete
  42. This sounds great for all those small spots the big vac can't get and to have for the car.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This would be great for picking up messes after my 2 year old :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh how great! With our third (in three years!) arriving any day... What couldn't I use this for?!!? But seriously, I can't imagine how great it would be for the eating areas and entry/exits... Places I need to clean more but find so darn inconvenient! Thanks, Katrina!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. oh my this would be awesome because my kids make a mess with there cheerios all the time. in my living rm and in the car.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I would use it to vacuum up the dog hair that seems to accumulate in all the small corners and spaces! And...would be great to clean up under Carters chair after meals! :) Would be wonderful to not have to pull out the big one all the time for the smaller messes!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I would love to let my kids have free reign of our old handheld vacuum and I could get some real cleaning done with this!

    ReplyDelete
  48. The pivoting nozzle would be very helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  49. With my dog tracking in leaves and sticks every day, this would be HUGE

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think this is a necessity for stair cleaning. And our old one is, well, getting rather old.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have a two-year-old who wears a "haz-mat suit" (painter's smock) when he eats, for every.meal. Unfortunately, there is no haz-mat suit for the table or the floor. This vacuum would be perfect. And for my car.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Cordless and lightweight...sounds like I can have my 3 and 4 year old helping out, which will definitely make the house cleaner!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh this would be sooooo very handy in the kitchen!

    ReplyDelete
  54. This would be awesome, I might just vacuum more often if I don't have to lug out the big vac all the time!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I found your site from grace's blog. I'd use it to help clean up the vehicles!

    ReplyDelete
  56. My 4-year-old was looking over my shoulder when I clicked on the link, and he said, "Mom we should get one of those! To clean up our small messes...and our big messes...and our cereal messes..." I couldn't have said it better myself!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I would love to use that to clean us the assorted crumbs that hang out underneath our high chair after each meal!

    ReplyDelete
  58. This would be perfect for cleaning around my son's high chair after meals. I hate having to lug out our behemoth vacuum cleaner every time I spot a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The three-year-old can't quite sweep up his own crumbs, but I'll bet he could handle this!

    ReplyDelete
  60. It would help me get the dust off the arms of my couch. I'm not hauling the entire vacuum above waist height!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Our living room rug sheds like crazy ... we don't have any pets but I swear it looks like we own two cats! This would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I would love this vacuum. Baby loves to throw his food. I need a dog. or this vacuum.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wow...that would definitely get a ton of use in this house.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I wage a constant war against cheerios and crumbs so... Yes. Yes please.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I could really use one of these. I'd use it to replace my daughters toy vacuum so she could REALLY help.

    ReplyDelete
  67. This would be perfect in my college house -- always so dirty :/

  69. I just discovered your blog.... I'm already hooked! With a toddler destroying my house and my husband working from home as we start a new business I feel like all I do is clean. This would help my hatred of sweeping our tile floors for sure!!!

  70. I have three creative, messy, fun-loving little boys, so I would use the vacuum morning, noon and night to restore a little order and sanity to my home! We could really use this because our dust buster took an unfortunate spin through a full cycle in the washing machine and it turns out that those just can't swim. I'm still not sure how that happened, but like I said. .. three curious little boys...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Oh man! Lugging out the "real" vacuum is all the excuse I need NOT to clean up messes of the four-year-old variety. This might save us all!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Two words: dog hair. Especially the dog hair on the couch!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ooh, this looks so perfect for apartment living. I would love to add some ease to our apartment living.

  75. I have a townhouse with about a zillion stairs. They are constantly dirty and my BIGGEST pet peeve is my vacuums inability to clean the front of the stair (does that make sense to anyone else?) Our puppy ate our 2-in-1 vacuumDustBuster and this would be an amazing replacement.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sending a kid to vacuum the car seats out! How do car seats get so gross!

    ReplyDelete
  77. ALL THE DOG HAIR!

    ReplyDelete
  78. My dog is a messy eater! leaves little bits of food all over the floor next to his bowl

    ReplyDelete
  79. Two kiddos, a long-haired cat, a husband, and ME would love this!!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I would have this attached to my hands all day, every day!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh my gosh this would change my LIFE. I bake a decent amount and my KitchenAid (aka love of my life) tends to spit flour everywhere if I add too much too quickly. Oh and also my 2 very messy children and my rude dog who insists on shedding everywhere he goeth.

    ReplyDelete
  82. My house. So messy. An infant, a dog, and two cats? Yeah. A handheld cordless vac could change EVERYTHING!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hmmm....I just heard about this vacuum somewhere else, it must be God telling me to buy it ASAP... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  84. I just tried this, so hopefully it doesn't post twice, but I have been looking for something like this that doesn't cost an arm and a let. I'd use it to vacuum behind closet doors or other places that are hard to get to with a conventional vacuum. It would also be super hand to quickly vacuum out cupboards or drawers that get dusty and crumb-y!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Between kid + cat, this is exactly what my home needs! Plus, it seems like an excellent way to get little bits of food that fall under the lower cabinets when I'm cooking dinner (I'm always so nervous what my fingers will find when I reach for it!).

    ReplyDelete
  86. my small city apartment has so many awkward skinny spaces; this would be so useful!

    ReplyDelete
  87. this would be nice to clean toddler messes out of my car. I love that the pivot is adjustable

  89. With this pregnancy, I've had a habit of throwing my kiddos on chairs in front of the computer with something awesome on Netflix and something healthy in their little hands (or not healthy. whatever. just trying to get through bedrest the best I can!). Anyways, one of the chairs is vinyl, the other is a classic rocker. Umm, yeah, the rocking chair could use this awesome clean-up every single day, probably multiple times a day since thats where the 1 yr old sits.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I would literally use this ten times a day . . Then make my kids use it ten times a day :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. The Pivot Vacs cyclonic action would suck up all of those hard-to-get-to messes in my vehicle that other vacuums won't reach. This would certainly make my life so much easier to get to the messes more quickly and get them taken care of.

    ReplyDelete
  92. This would be used in our car like every day!

    ReplyDelete
  93. IN THE CAR....oh man, my 12 m/o cruises the floors (oh the SHAME), but this baby would live in my car.

    ReplyDelete
  94. It would help me in my car when cleaning it out.

    ReplyDelete
  95. It would help me in cleaning up dog hair! gah!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm so tired of dragging out the big vacuum after each meal. This would save me SO much time and effort :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. I have an 18 month old son and another on the way…enough said! Messes in our house are a daily occurrence and this would help out so much!

    ReplyDelete
